The Cure for Stress

Stress is quickly becoming the leading cause of disability and disease, contributing to 75 – 90% of medical visits and costing the US Business economy an estimated $600 billion annually. Despite escalating costs to individuals and organizations, current stress management protocols are seriously outdated, and may be causing more harm than good. Based on the recent neuroscience of stress, a paradigm shift is required where we no longer try to minimize or manage stress but rather mobilize the insight and energy it provides to master it; using stress as fuel for positive change, creating resilience and social support that extends beyond the workplace.

Participants will:

  • Redefine stress using a new framework built upon recent neuroscience research
  • Understand the different types of stress and stress reactions, and techniques to train whole-brain skill sets that transform experiences of stress
  • Recognize the value of the organization as a system that holds the keys to transforming stress personally and collectively, and the significant role leaders play in initiating and supporting these shifts
  • Practice a simple Brain Recharge technique designed to build cognitive and emotional capacity
  • Discuss best practices to use within organizations to support energy management for optimal health, performance and resilience

Hormone therapy may be the answer, but there’s so much controversy! What’s a woman to do?
Our goal is to help you navigate the overwhelming amount of information about hormone therapy and empower you with knowledge to make the best decision about your health. In this session you will learn the benefits and risks of hormone therapy, the difference between commercially manufactured hormones and bio-identical hormones and how custom compounded therapy may help.

Lean in to Discomfort – And Uncover Infinite Possibilities

Connection is why we are all here. It is what gives us purpose and meaning in our lives, and it is how we are all neurologically wired. But let’s face it, the art of connection has changed drastically due to technology and divisive language. When we feel exposed or shamed, our natural instinct is to turn away from it and “numb” because it makes it go away, and we instantly feel better.

What we don’t know is that the emotion is stored on our bodies, and it doesn’t go away, it actually gets bigger when it isn’t given a voice. This requires us to be vulnerable, and many of us would rather fly under the radar than show up authentically for who we are because we are afraid it will never be enough. In this talk, we will discuss what it means to be vulnerable…to embrace all of who we are and to lean in to discomfort because it is absolutely necessary. It is also the very thing that makes you beautiful.

Stop Wearing Your Wishbone Where Your Backbone Ought to Be

How do we define “physical fitness” and what is its relationship with our “lifestyle”? For this Breakout Session, we will be talking STRATEGY – how we as modern professional women prioritize our own fitness in the greatest juggling act of our lives, when we are also responsible for the wellbeing of others? How do you make time for you, when your time is so scarce, and everybody wants it?

Once we establish the goal of exercise, we can debate interactively what the most popular modalities are, whether they are efficient for the busy professional that’s already overbooked, and also how much is really needed. Moreover, what if any significant and long-lasting damage to the body are you signing up for, and how does that fit into your over-all long-term lifestyle plan.

My Presentation will offer a different perspective on exercise, one that must first satisfy three things:

  1. Stimulate our body’s growth hormone mechanism (build muscle)
  2. Prevent the physical improvements we seek (overtraining)
  3. Produce injury (getting hurt)

And then, we have the million-dollar of why we should bother at all – to proactively combat the myriad problems associated with ageing, supercharge the metabolism and increase cardiovascular endurance. That’s WHY we should be striving for physical fitness.

Our lifestyles are what we shape for ourselves. Our physical fitness determines whether we reach our potential quality of life. Shape your own lifestyle, or it’ll shape you.

Holistic Approach To Spiritual Health

Spiritual healing is both a process and a natural state, and no single path leads everyone to the same answer for healing. Some seek to improve their mind, body, relationships and environment through meditation, Reiki, or QiGong and for others it may be prayer. Working through the energy field helps facilitate healing and helps prevent dis-ease.

Spiritual healing is a self-care complementary therapy that can be used in addition to conventional medical help. As we heal the past by receiving messages from loved ones, the forgiveness process begins which in turn opens the heart for a happier future. When the messages are received from spirit it gives proof of a continued after life.

Because our physical body is constantly vibrating with the surrounding environment, the importance of creating spaces that allow for more positive and balanced life, is the key to living in healthy alignment with our goals. Taking time to heal the home and workspace, will bring more energy and peace.

Tangible Takeaways:

  • Healing your environment by improving your living space
  • What does spiritual energy feel like?
  • Self healing with hands on Reiki
  • Finding forgiveness through messages from loved ones
  • 5 minute meditation technique to use anywhere

How to Create Internal Harmony and Oneness with Others

We lead active lives. We wear multiple hats. Our days are filled with activities that require us lead by example, conduct meetings, make and take phone calls, negotiate, problem solve, innovate, wash dishes, clean house, care for our children, spouses, parents and extended loved ones. The list of responsibilities is never ending and our roles are ever evolving.

So how do replenish? How do we ensure that we’re emotionally, mentally, physically, energetically and spiritually recalibrating and realigning ourselves on a daily basis? There are practical and physical processes that we can incorporate to manifest not just the sense of harmony, but true calm and rebalance of self and soul. Harmony on an emotional, spiritual and cellular level is key to thinking clearly, making informed decisions, and experiencing life to the fullest.

During this presentation, Mali Phonpadith will share specific tools, walk you through exercises and provide demonstrations of regimens she incorporates into her daily life that “resets” her internal compass. This allows her to – be present with whatever situation she is asked to address in any given moment, honor that deeper trust of her inner knowing/intuition, and truly experience what it means to “love what is”.

Our lives are short and too precious to wait until “tomorrow” to find our balance and intentionally create the harmony we all seek in our hearts and minds. Let’s begin today and SOAR together.

Minutes Matter – Know Your Numbers

We all know that women have different roles throughout their lives where Minutes Matter. They are wives, mothers, caretakers, friends, good neighbors, successful business women and sheroes to many where great time management skills come into play daily! However, Minutes Matter most when they or a loved one is experiencing symptoms of a heart attack and they need to know how to react to save a life. Additionally, in many cases the symptoms of a heart attack are different for them, so they have the added responsibility of having to know how to act fast when presented with different circumstances.

Minutes Matter because when heart attack symptoms emerge, time is of the essence. Within 90 minutes of arriving at the hospital, heart attack patients should receive an artery-opening procedure to avoid major damage to the heart, according to the American Heart Association.

In this session, Shondra Jones, Inova Loudoun Hopsital’s Cardio Invasive Specialist & Clinical Coordinator will discuss this important topic in an open and interactive forum. Learn what a heart attack actually is and the steps you need to take to act fast to enable the best outcomes for you and your loved ones and why it is important to know your numbers. In this session she will also discuss the “why are women different” question and discuss how and why symptoms present differently and why they are more likely to be at risk and how stress can impact your hardest working organ. Join the discussion and learn what every woman needs to know to protect her life and her loved ones and what to do when Minutes Matter!
